The former justice minister and attorney general is making her first public comments about the SNC-Lavalin affair in an appearance before the House of Commons justice committee. In an opening statement, she said there was a “consistent and sustained effort” between September and December 2018 to seek a deferred prosecution agreement for SNC-Lavalin, and she had been warned of consequences if she did not intervene.
