Industry, philanthropy increasingly important research funders as competition rises: Report


Global R&D spending has grown steadily over the last two decades, partly driven by East and Southeast Asian countries, according to a new report from the Council of Canadian Academies commissioned by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. Businesses accounted for over 70 per cent of the increase across OECD countries between 2000 and 2017, but government contributions have been flat or declining. (The Logic)
